Hillsborough County deputies now believe a stabbing attack on Bryan Road near Seffner on July 2 could have been a random act.

Arrest documents show 18-year-old Brian Garcia stabbed his neighbor 21 times.
According to the arrest report, Garcia, who lives two homes down, knocked on the victim's door just before midnight. Garcia then made a gesture as if asking for a cigarette or drink, then suddenly attacked.
The victim told deputies he had seen Garcia in the neighborhood a few times, but didn't know him.
After the attack, the victim went to a neighbor's home for help. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition for "massive blood loss." The victim is still in the hospital.
A family member of Garcia claimed the victim gave alcohol to Garcia in the past. The sheriff's office is investigating that claim, but at this point there is no evidence to support it.
