BRANDON, Fla. -- Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office are investigating after a family reported someone shot at their car with a BB gun.

Christine Flores tells ABC Action News that her family was driving on Kings Avenue in Brandon when glass from a backseat window shattered.

Flores believes someone was shooting randomly at cars when it happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday night near Kingswood Elementary School.

"With the shattered glass, it could have hit her, she could be looking, it could have hit any part of her eye," said Flores.

The sheriff's office is investigating but can not confirm if someone has been shooting at cars using a BB gun.

"I know it was something more than just the object hitting it. It was intentional," said Flores.

Flores says her family is now out $500 to repair the window. She hopes whoever is responsible stops before someone is hurt.

"I don’t want that to happen to anybody," said Flores.
