TAMPA, Fla. — A Hillsborough County school teacher was arrested after police said engaged in a relationship with a 14-year-old student.
Police said Daniel Gonzalez, 35, first met the 14-year-old student at the beginning of the Hillsborough County school year at Jefferson High School, where he is a teacher.

The victim's parents noticed a change in her behavior. The victim's mother looked at the victim's phone and discovered text messages with Gonzalez.
The mother confronted her daughter about her relationship with Gonzalez and learned it was romantic in nature.
Police were notified on April 15 of the parents' concerns and began an investigation.
During an interview with Gonzalez, he admitted to having romantic feelings for the victim and also admitted to knowing the relationship was wrong. Police said he acknowledged her age and his position over her as a teacher were also wrong.
Gonzalez was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail.
He's charged with an authority figure soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship with a student.
