HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A new elementary school is coming to Hillsborough County and you can help give it an identity.

After taking name suggestions from the public, the school will be known as Belmont Elementary.

Now officials want your help to determine the school's identity, including colors and a mascot.

The school will be located at 14150 Gate Dancer Rd. in Sun City Center.

There will be three community meetings starting next week to discuss, and a decision will be made by the school board the following week.

Parents will also be able to find out about VPK options and after school programs at those meetings.

The next step in developing Belmont Elementary's identity is selecting a mascot and colors. Officials want students, parents and the community to be included in selection process.

You can fill out a quick survey with your mascot and color recommendations. The survey is open until March 2.

The district will narrow down the choices to the top three and present them at the following informational community meetings:

Tuesday, March 3
Meeting at Doby Elementary School
6 -7 p.m.

Thursday, March 5
Meeting at Reddick Elementary School
6-7 p.m.

Tuesday, March 24
Meeting at Summerfield Crossings
6-7 p.m.
