TAMPA, Fla. — Hand over those Gasparilla beads!

That is what the MacDonald Training Center in Tampa wants you to do.

The non-profit organization helps hundreds of people with autism and Down syndrome prepare for the workplace.

In a partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, the MacDonald Center is putting beautifully painted collection bins around town to collect people’s unwanted Gasparilla beads (and keep them out the bay).

The center will then repackage the beads to help fund programs.

Beads can be dropped off at the MacDonald Training Center at 5420 W. Cypress St. in Tampa.

You can also take your beads to the following four locations:

  • Port Tampa Community Center at 4702 W. McCoy St., Tampa
  • Kate Jackson Community Center at 821 S. Rome Ave., Tampa
  • Loretta Ingraham Recreation Complex at 1611 N. Hubert Ave., Tampa
  • Copeland Park Center at 11001 N 15th St., Tampa
