TAMPA, Fla. — A group of Bay area friends have decided to focus on something positive this holiday season by passing out sweatshirts on their own time and dime to the homeless.

Joshua Ott, and a group of his buddies, bought the entire display of sweatshirts and sweatpants in every color from their local Walmart.

They have no affiliation to any charities, or groups in the area; they just wanted to do something kind.

Ott says it all started at the beginning of the week when he drove past a man living on the streets wearing a garbage bag to try and stay warm in the cold.

"It really touched me," he said.

Ott got together with a group of his friends, and they all put in their own money to go buy the clothes.

He says it helps him and his friends focus on positivity this year.

The friends that usually deck out their big diesel trucks, used them to drive around and find people in need.

In a matter of hours, they were able to pass out a portion of the sweaters.

With several dozen left, Ott said they will continue to pass them out when they can as we head into winter.
