Free place to co-work and grow businesses in Hillsborough County

Work in the Flow program takes off at libraries
Posted

Your library in Hillsborough County wants to be the place you meet people to grow your business instead of other public hot spots like your  Starbucks or Panera Bread.

The Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library now offers an innovative way for entrepreneurs and small businesses to co-work for free.

Work In The Flow connects people in public library spaces to get feedback, new ideas while networking with new people.

The Urban Libraries Council explains the idea on their website, "those who choose to Work In The Flow are able to recognize and connect with one another, leading to helpful feedback, skill-sharing and meaningful professional relationships."

Promoting libraries as business resource centers connects workers in two ways:

A physical presence that visually identifies participating workings in the library and a virtual presence through a listserv and online platform where discussions are archived and searchable to other users.

The program is in 12 library locations across Hillsborough County.

Bethanie Nonami is writing a new chapter her in life as she's developing a new business, Memento.

Memento is a new way to help seniors become tech savvy by teaching non-technical people how to use all the new apps and websites.

"You don't have the pressures of ordering a sandwich," she said.

It is free to register for a library card for Hillsborough County residents. You can bring a photo ID and proof of residency.

You can sign up at any of the 26 locations or pre-register using the county website.
