GIBSONTON, Fla. — Hillsborough County detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred late Monday night.
The Sheriff's Office received multiple 911 calls around 10:09 p.m. regarding a shooting near the Murphy USA at 9023 Gibsonton Drive.
After arriving on scene, deputies found an adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Paramedics transported the victim to St. Joseph's Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
"The investigation is in the early stages, but this shooting does not appear to be a random act. At this time, we believe the victim and the shooter knew each other," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Anyone who may have witnessed this shooting is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200."
Detectives have yet to release the identity of the victim, any motive for the shooting or possible suspects in the homicide.
