BRANDON, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation in Brandon.
The deputy was on patrol Tuesday around 11:00 p.m. when he found a minivan stopped in the middle of Woodberry Road near Essex Road.
Authorities say the deputy originally thought he came upon a disabled vehicle, but discovered the male driver had been shot.
The deputy performed first aid until paramedics could arrive on scene. They transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
The Sheriff's Office did not receive any calls of shots fired and there is no video cameras in the area to help identify a suspect or their vehicle.
Detectives believe the victim may have known the shooter.
