TAMPA, Fla. — A Hillsborough County neighborhood comes together every Sunday evening to mingle with neighbors, and also remember the great country we live in.
Todd Conner started playing the song “God Bless The USA” to himself in the backyard of his Carrollwood neighborhood one night, and the more often he did it, the more people that started gathering on the golf course out back.
Some people head out in golf carts, some bring flags, and the second the music starts, they all sit quiet and just listen.
Conner says he did this every single night for nearly three weeks, now he just does it every Sunday.
“Everyone I think really likes just getting together and the community coming together, it’s been good for the community in that area. So, I mean, we just have a good time. It’s not a big production, a couple songs and everyone gathers and we spend a few minutes and talk, and everyone goes home,” said Todd Conner.
People who have lived in the neighborhood more than 30 years say they’re still meeting new people each night they gather.
