Applications open for magnet, career and technical programs in Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The application period for Hillsborough County Public Schools' Magnet and Choice Career and Technical Education Program opens on Monday, with a variety of virtual sessions scheduled before it closes on December 11.

“Our Choice and Magnet options are some of the most dynamic and rigorous programs within our school district. We have worked diligently to ensure our families will have an informative and enjoyable experience as they explore new educational paths through our district’s 80+ Magnet and Choice programs,” said Bob Cox, Supervisor of Magnet Programs.

Students and families can log onto the annual Magnet and CTE Expo from home. Live demonstrations will take place over Zoom for in-demand programs like robotics, performing arts, medical, International Baccalaureate, and more.

The expo is on Thursday, November 5 from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

Other virtual sessions include:

  • Magnet: Vision 2020 Info Session- November 12
  • Magnet: Vision 2020 Exploration Nights- November 19 and December 3

“These specialized offerings cultivate innovative experiences for our learners, making our programs one of the top choices for parents in Tampa Bay. When a child finds their passion and inspiration in the classroom, they can truly flourish. The diverse opportunities within the Magnet and Choice areas expose our students to various interests that help to develop the whole child. We are proud to provide these unique opportunities to students spanning all grade levels,” said Superintendent Addison Davis.
