HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — There are a few new things to expect at the 2020 Florida State Fair, including exclusive promotions, a fair foodie crawl and a 5K & Fun Run Race.

Race through the fair on Saturday, February 15 for a chance to be the first ever Deep Fried Dash 5K & Fun Run champion! You can register here.

There's also a Fair Foodie Crawl. It’s the fun of a pub crawl with all of your deep-fried fair favorites! Register for $25 and try the best of the best in fair foods on February 13 after 5:00 p.m.

As the Florida State Fair organizers prepare for these new features on opening day, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will be working behind the scenes to keep them safe.

On Thursday morning, Sheriff Chad Chronister was at the fairgrounds to celebrate the opening at the annual "Flip the Switch" ceremony at 6:30 a.m.

Sheriff Chronister and HCSO deputies will perform an inspection of games at 8:30 a.m.

“Like every year, we want to make sure people stay safe, have fun and know that their money won't be taken unfairly," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "The game inspections we perform allow fairgoers to have that peace of mind."
