The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for two suspects who fled from a traffic stop turned deputy-involved shooting in Plant City on Tuesday night.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., a deputy responded to an aggravated battery call at 3701 E Hwy 92. While he was on the way to the call, he saw a vehicle that was involved in the call.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over on Woodrow Wilson Street. During the traffic stop, the deputy got out of the patrol car and the suspect vehicle backed up and hit the front of the patrol car. The deputy was knocked to the ground and said he was fearing for his life.
He fired at least one round at the suspect's vehicle and the suspect fled from the scene in the vehicle.
Additional deputies arrived on the scene to help the injured deputy and begin searching for the suspects and the vehicle.
Deputies found the suspect vehicle abandoned on Sammons Road and South Woodrow Wilson Street. K-9 and aviation units helped search for the suspects but they have not been found.
The injured deputy suffered a minor shoulder injury but was not transported to the hospital.
The search continues for the suspects in this incident.
