A Plant City mom who was told to wait outside of a Tax Collector with her kids earlier this month has resolved the issue after meeting with the tax collector in Plant City.

The Tax Collector, Doug Belden, met with Liz Gatley, to discuss the recent experience at the Plant City office. Belden says the meeting was extremely positive and professional.

Gatley wanted to make sure the employee who told her to wait outside with her children was not relieved of their duties at the Tax Collector's Plant City office.

"People make mistakes, but I firmly believe that everyone should be given a second chance to learn and grow from them, especially with an employee with over 30 years of service to this organization," Belden said. "Good things can come from a bad experience as in this case, I give Ms. Gatley all the credit for suggesting that we have outdoor seating. As a result, benches are being installed at all of our branches."

Belden also met with the Plant City Tax Collector employee, who will be sending Ms. Gatley a formal written apology and will attend comprehensive customer service and communication training. "I am very grateful that this matter has been resolved and that this experience can be used to adopt positive changes within our organization," says Belden.
