Everything to know about early voting in the Florida primary in DeSoto/Hardee/Highlands Counties

The 2018 election will be a big one in Florida. A U.S. Senate seat, the governor position, numerous seats in the state legislature and some referendums are on the ballot.

The Florida primary is quickly approaching on August 28.

We've all been there on election day, waiting in long lines to vote. But early voting is becoming more and more popular.

To see what will be on your ballot when you go to vote click here in DeSoto County, click here in Hardee County, and click here in Highlands County.

As long as you are a DeSoto resident, you can vote at ANY early voting site in the county. The same goes for Hardee and Highlands County residents in those counties


Here is a list of locations where you can vote early in DeSoto County.

Early voting here is open from Monday, Aug. 13-Saturday, Aug. 25 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. weekends.

WHAT TO BRING TO THE VOTING SITE

To avoid delays, please bring one or two forms of identification that include your signature and photo. Without proper identification, you may still vote a provisional ballot, which will later be evaluated by a canvassing board for eligibility. Any of the following forms of photo identification are acceptable:

  • Florida Driver License
  • Florida ID Card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • U.S. Passport
  • Debit or Credit Card
  • Military ID
  • Student ID
  • Retirement Center ID 
  • Neighborhood Association ID 
  • Public Assistance ID
  • Veteran Health ID (issued by VA)
  • Concealed Weapon License (issued pursuant to s. 790.06)
  • Government Employee ID
