HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. — Detectives have found the vehicle of the 81-year-old woman who has been missing since Jan. 17 in the Kissimmee River.
Margaret Becker, who usually goes by the first name Helen, was last seen leaving the Publix at 2728 U.S. 27 South a little after 6:15 p.m. on January 17.
On Saturday, a search of the 106,000-acre range was launched looking for her vehicle. At approximately 1:50 p.m., divers confirmed that the vehicle was in the river.
The vehicle was still in drive and three of the windows were rolled down which indicates Becker was in the vehicle when it entered the water. However, she was not inside.
There was a thorough search of the area downstream of where the vehicle was found, but only some items that had been inside the vehicle were found.
Tuesday, her family reached out to the public with a plea to help track Becker down.
"Please we just need some leads, we just don’t know what direction, we are willing to do search parties we are willing to do whatever we can we just have no direction what to do," Sheri Becker-Unger, her only child said.
