SEBRING, Fla. — A 72-year-old man was arrested and charged with 300 counts of possession of child pornography, officials said.
Ronald Wells was arrested on Wednesday, August 19 after an investigation that began in January. Officials discovered 300 images of child porn on a laptop taken from his home.
Officials said on Jan. 6, the Highlands County Special Victims Unit was forwarded a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an uploaded file contained child porn. Search warrants then revealed that the image came from an Iris Avenue home.
A search warrant was issued in March and Wells' son David Wells, 43, was arrested that day and charged with 14 counts of possession of child porn. The next day, an additional 49 counts of possession of child porn were filed against David.
During a search, detectives found a laptop that belonged to Ronald. The laptop was seized and forensic inspection discovered 300 child porn images, as well as a search history with specific child porn terms.
Ronald was arrested on Wednesday and taken to the Highlands County Jail.
No bond has been set for Ronald at this time.
