BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — The school resource officer at West Hernando Middle School is being thanked after he saved a choking student on Wednesday.
Deputy Shane Landgraff was notified of a student in distress during the 7th grade lunch period. He found the student holding their neck and chest area.
Landgraff used three back blows to dislodge the stuck food, according to the sheriff's office. Then he ensured the student was stable before they were taken to the school nurse.
The student returned to class later the same day, the sheriff's office says.
