The transitional home is the latest addition to Operation Homefront’s Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration (THCR) Program, which is designed to help veterans and their families as they transition from the military into civilian communities.

Through the program, the veteran and their family can live in the home rent-free and get financial education and support services. The veteran must be within 12 months of discharge, according to the press release.

"The family will work with a caseworker and financial counselor to create realistic financial, educational, employment, and personal goal plans," the press release read. "The two-to-three year-long program prepares families for home ownership, and provides skills needed to improve credit scores, pay off debt, accumulate emergency savings, and establish ties to the community they reside in."

The 1,513 square-foot home is one-story and features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an attached one-car garage, an open concept great room and kitchen with dinette. It's located near Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.

"The veteran must be willing to work towards self-sufficiency during this program. They will be required to pay a monthly fee, which will be refunded upon program graduation," the press release said. "Families will also be responsible for utility costs, while Operation Homefront will provide lawn care and landscaping."
