HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. -- Hernando County is the latest district to cancel its in-person graduation ceremonies.

The Hernando School District had initially postponed the ceremonies to late July to early August but now, it will offer a virtual ceremony instead.

"I share your disappointment, but we have to do what we feel is in the best interest of all of our students, staff and community," said Superintendent John Stratton in a statement.

Below is a full statement released by the Hernando superintendent:

The announcement comes as Hillsborough County Public Schools also opted to take the virtual route amid coronavirus concerns. Hillsborough County initially scheduled to have in-person graduation ceremonies at the Florida State Fairgrounds before the district ultimately decided to make the ceremonies virtual.
