An 18-year-old was arrested on Friday morning after firing off a flare gun into a random person's home on Garden Street.

According to a police report from the Brooksville Police Department, Jachob T. Hollenbeck fired a flare from a flare gun through the victim's window. The victim was asleep at the time but was woken when he heard a loud bang on the window above him.  He then saw a hole in the glass and smelled burning.

A neighbor told police that she saw a purple car driving through the area slowly during the time of the incident. A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching that description near the intersection of S. Mildred Avenue and MLK Blvd.

Police arrested Hollenbeck for shooting/throwing a deadly missile. He was transported to the Hernando County Jail where he is being held on $10,000.00 bond.

Brooksville Police Chief Turner tells ABC Action News that the crime was entirely random and that the suspect and victim do not know each other.
