Residents in one Crystal River neighborhood say they were awakened by gunshots Tuesday morning.
According to an arrest affidavit, at least found rounds, possibly six, were fired on North Griffith Avenue.
Billy Dixon Jr., 19, of 6671 West Abers Court in Crystal River, is now charged with knowingly discharging a firearm in a roadway, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies say when the arrived around 5 a.m., a witness reported seeing two men in the roadway walking toward West Abers Court. The man reported hearing six gunshots.
Five shell casings were found directly in front of the witness's home, deputies say. A sixth round was never located.
Deputies say during their search, Dixon Jr., rode by a on a bicycle.
Deputies stopped Dixon, who was reportedly wearing a backpack.
According to an arrest affidavit, during a pat down deputies found a firearm in Dixon Jr.'s waistband.
The gun was a Hi-Point semi-automatic pistol, deputies say.
An arrest affidavit states Dixon Jr. admitted to firing the round and did so "for fun."
Deputies say inside Dixon Jr.'s backpack they also found cannabis seeds and a scale.
Dixon Jr. did not have a concealed carry permit/license.
He is being held on $5,000 bond.
