BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is searching for three suspects they believe were involved in an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say a woman was robbed at gun point just after 4 p.m. near the Dollar Tree on Cortez Boulevard. According to deputies, the victim had just left another business when she walked toward her vehicle and noticed a white man loitering near it.
When the woman approached her car she noticed one of the windows was broken. Deputies say that's when the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at her, demanding her purse.
He is described as being around 40 years old, 6 feet tall, with a thin build and brown hair. He was wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans and flip flops.
After he got the bag, deputies say the man got into a vehicle that was waiting nearby and took off. Deputies describe the vehicle as a black, newer model, 4-door sedan with black wheels and tinted windows. It was driven by a black man, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies say 20 minutes later a white woman tried to use the victim's credit card to make a $500 purchase at a Dollar General on Cortez Boulevard. At the same time, deputies say a black man got out of the passenger side of a silver vehicle in the parking lot.
Deputies believe the silver vehicle is a secondary suspect vehicle.
