HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A 7-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Tuesday, officials say.
Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was traveling southbound on Mariner Boulevard at the intersection of Chalmer Street. The boy was riding a tricycle across the intersection with the father and sister.

The boy entered the path of the vehicle and was struck.
The boy suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital.
Officials said alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
