CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two teens are dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Citrus County Wednesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Focus was traveling west on County Road 480 near Brittle Road a little after 11:30 p.m. before losing control, running off the road and then smashing into a tree.

The crash killed the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Franklin Cooper, and one of the three passenger inside the Ford Focus. Two of the passengers were taken to the hospital and a third passenger, later identified as 17-year-old Leilani Anderson, has died at the hospital.

The four people involved in the single-vehicle wreck were later identified as Citrus County School District students.

FHP said they do not know how the driver lost control of the Ford Focus in the first place.
