Meet the 80 inmates currently on Florida's death row who were convicted of crimes they committed in the Tampa Bay Area.
WAYNE DOTY: Doty shot to death a worker at a manufacturing plant in Plant City in 1996, which got him a life sentence in Hillsborough County. Doty landed on death row only after killing another inmate in 2011. He said he killed the inmate in order to be put on death row so that the family of the worker he killed in 1996 would have closure. He is the first Florida death row inmate to demand that he be put to death in the electric chair. Bradford County. Sentenced 06/05/2013.
GLEN E ROGERS: Also known as "The Cross Country Killer" or "The Casanova Killer", is an American serial killer. He was convicted of two murders and is a suspect in numerous others throughout the United States, including being mentioned, and considered by investigators in Los Angeles County, as a possible alternative suspect to O.J. Simpson in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, although as of 2017 nothing has developed regarding these allegations. He also has been sentenced to death in California. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 07/11/1997.
PATRICK C HANNON: Hannon, Ron Richardson, and Jim Acker went to the apartment of Brandon Snider and roommate Robert Carter to get revenge against Snider for vandalizing his former girlfriend's bedroom. Snider's former girlfriend was Acker's sister. When Snider came to the door, Acker stabbed Snider multiple times and Hannon cut Snider’s throat. When Carter came downstairs, he witnessed the murder and fled upstairs, hiding under his bed. Hannon and Acker followed Carter upstairs and Hannon shot Carter six times. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 08/05/1991.

GEORGE J TREPAL: Trepal had many disputes with his neighbors. At one point, he left them an unsigned letter threatening that they would all die if they did not leave Florida immediately. Trepal put thallium poison in Coca-Cola bottles and left them at the neighbor's house. More than half a dozen members of the family fell sick to the poison, the mother died. Polk County. Sentenced 03/06/1991.
WILLIAM J DEPARVINE: Deparvine was sentenced to death for killing a couple for their vintage Chevy pickup. After his conviction, he petitioned to keep a vintage pickup that belonged to one of the victims. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 01/09/2006.
JAMES DAILEY: Dailey was sentenced to death after police connected him to the murder of a 14-year-old girl. The girl's body was found floating in the water near Indian Rocks Beach. She had been stabbed, strangled, and drowned. Pinellas County. Sentenced 08/07/1987.
JEFFREY A. MUEHLEMAN: Posing as a live-in helper, Muehleman was hired by a 97-year-old man who lived alone in Pinellas Park. Muehleman robbed and killed the man during the time he posed as his live-in helper. Pinellas County. Sentenced 06/08/1984.
ROBERT J. LONG: Long is an American serial killer. Long abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered at least 10 women in the Tampa Bay Area during an eight-month period in 1984. He released his last victim, Lisa McVey, after raping her for a period of 26 hours. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 07/25/1986.
RALPH D WRIGHT: Wright was found guilty of killing his ex-lover and their 15-month-old son in 2007. Pinellas County. Sentenced 08/15/2014.
JOHN SEXTON JR.: Sexton was sentenced to death for the bludgeoning, stabbing and mutilating 94-year-old Ann Parlato in her Port Richey home. Pasco County. Sentenced 12/13/2013.
KHALID A PASHA: Murdered a mother and her daughter. Their bodies were found in a remote cul-de-sac at the Woodland Corporate Center with their throats slit. Pasha was found nearby with their blood on his face. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 08/01/2013.
DELMER SMITH III: Smith was convicted for the brutal slaying of Kathleen Briles. Smith broke into her home and used an antique sewing machine to beat her to death. Smith was already serving a life sentence for a home invasion and kidnapping in Sarasota. Manatee County. Sentenced 05/28/2013.
JOHN W CAMPBELL: Campbell admitted he killed his father with a hatchet in 2010. His attorneys blamed the act on the younger Campbell's depression and use of crack cocaine. Citrus County. Sentenced 03/19/2013.
LEON DAVIS: Davis was convicted of committing five murders in the span of a week in Polk County. He shot two men to death at a gas station, six days later he robbed an insurance office in Lake Wales during which time he set two female employees, one of which who was pregnant, on fire. The woman's baby was delivered but eventually died. Polk County. Sentenced 04/29/2011.
RICHARD T ROBARDS: Robards, a title-winning bodybuilder and personal trainer, murdered a Clearwater couple in a botched robbery attempt. Pinellas County. Sentenced 10/29/2010.
JOHN L HAMPTON: Hampton was convicted for the murder of a twenty-five-year-old single mother of three, who was found dead, lying face up in her own blood on the floor of her bedroom in her apartment in Clearwater. Pinellas County. Sentenced 02/19/2010.
GENGHIS N KOCAKER: Kocaker killed a cab driver in a Clearwater parking lot in 2004. Kocaker stabbed the driver in his cab, beat him, put him in the trunk and tied him up. He then set the cab on fire. Pinellas County. Sentenced 12/18/2009.
MICHAEL L KING: King murdered Denise Amber Lee in 2008, after he had kidnapped and raped her earlier in the day. Lee and several others had attempted to call for help through the 9-1-1 system but there was a lack of communication and the police and other emergency services arrived too late. The Denise Amber Lee Act was passed unanimously by the Florida Legislature later that year which provides for mandatory training for 9-1-1 operatives. Sarasota County. Sentenced 12/04/2009.
JOSHUA L ALTERSBERGER: Convicted and sentenced to death in the shooting death of Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Sottile in 2007 after he was pulled over for a traffic stop. Highlands County. Sentenced 06/15/2009.
PHILLUP A PARTIN: Partin was sentenced to death for the murder of 16-year-old hitchhiker Joshan Ashbrook. Partin was a prostitute with male clients. Partin was previously convicted of second-degree murder in Miami-Dade County after he killed one of his clients. Pasco County. Sentenced 12/01/2008.
CHARLES G BRANT: Brant plead guilty to murder, sexual battery, kidnapping, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary with assault or battery. The victim was his 21-year-old next door neighbor. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 11/30/2007.
NELSON I SERRANO: Serrano was convicted for murdering four individuals at the Erie Manufacturing plant in Bartow. Serrano was a former partner and CEO in the business, who had been in a bitter dispute with the others over the removal of $1 million by his partners without his knowledge. The victims were his former business partner and another former partner’s son, daughter and son-in-law. Polk County. Sentenced 06/26/2007.
JOSEPH P SMITH: Smith was sentenced to death for the 2004 murder of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia, whose abduction was captured by a security camera and shown around the world. Sarasota County. Sentenced 03/15/2006.
THOMAS W RIGTERINK: Rigterink is a former model who fatally stabbed his drug dealer and the woman who passed by and tried to call for help. Polk County. Sentenced 10/14/2005.
MARK A POOLE: Poole was convicted to the murder of Nathan Scott, 24, during a home invasion. Scott was asleep with his pregnant wife when she woke to Poole raping her with a pillow over her face demanding to know where the money was. Scott tried to stop him, Poole hit him several times with a tire iron until he died. Polk County. Sentenced 08/25/2005.
WILLIAM K TAYLOR: William Taylor met Sandra Kushmer and her brother, Billy D. Maddox, at Harry’s Bar in Riverview. Taylor knew Kushmer from school. Taylor noticed that Kushmer’s brother bought expensive drinks and left generous tips, so he decided to rob them. Taylor hit Kushmer in the head then shot her in the face with a shotgun. He then severely beat Maddox. Maddox nearly died from the beating receiving several fractures to his skull. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 09/29/2004.
JOHN TROY: According to Troy, Bonnie Carroll began bad-mouthing his girlfriend and an argument ensued, which turned physical. Troy then tied Carroll up and gagged her. Police reported that Carroll died from 44 stab wounds, several blunt force injuries, bruising to her face and head, and multiple defensive wounds - 54 wounds in total. Sarasota County. Sentenced 01/23/2004.
FRANKLIN D FLOYD: Floyd was convicted of the 1989 murder of Cheryl Ann Commesso, an exotic dancer from Florida. Floyd is also considered a person of interest in the hit-and-run death of his wife Sharon Marshall. It was later discovered that prior to becoming his wife, Marshall was raised by Floyd from an early age as his daughter and was herself kidnapped by Floyd as a child. Pinellas County. Sentenced 11/22/2002.
TAVARES J WRIGHT: Wright carjacked, kidnapped, robbed and murdered James Felker, 18, and David Lee Green. 21. Wright had multiple convictions for violent felonies and was already serving two life sentences for a drive-by-shooting the morning before he killed his two victims. Polk County. Sentenced 10/12/2005.
PEDRO HERNANDEZ-ALBERTO: He shot and killed his two stepdaughters after an argument with his wife about ownership of the home and restaurant that were in his wife's name. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 05/28/2002.
KENNETH L DESSAURE JR.: Dessaure called 911 to report that he found a naked, dead woman in her apartment hallway. Police later determined that he was the one who killed her. Pinellas County. Sentenced 10/26/2001.
RAY L JOHNSTON: Johnston was convicted and sentenced to death for two separate murders in 1997. Three prior victims testified on prior violent felonies committed by Johnston testified that he grabbed them, placed a hunting knife to their throats, and forced them to undress, bound, or beat them with a belt. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 03/13/2000.
WILLIE S CRAIN JR.: Crain molested and kidnapped a 7-year-old girl in 1998. He was sentenced to death for her murder, although her body was never found. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 11/19/1999.
MICAH L NELSON: Nelson broke into a 78-year-old woman’s home through the bathroom window. The woman was lying asleep in her bedroom, her hearing aid and glasses were removed. Nelson raped her, kidnapped her and murdered her. Polk County. Sentenced 03/17/2000.
ADAM W DAVIS: Davis was one of two young men who helped 15-year-old Valessa Robinson kill her own mother. Davis was Robinson's boyfriend and was 19-years-old at the time.

SAMUEL L SMITHERS: Smithers was a former Baptist deacon who was sentenced to death for the murders of two Tampa prostitutes. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 06/25/1999.
ROBERT D MORRIS: Morris was convicted in 1999 of first-degree murder, burglary of a dwelling, and robbery with a deadly weapon after the brutal killing of an 88-year-old woman in her Lakeland apartment. Polk County. Sentenced 04/30/1999.
THOMAS D WOODEL: Woodel was convicted of armed robbery, armed burglary, and two counts of first-degree murder based on the murders of Clifford and Bernice Moody. Polk County. Sentenced 01/26/1999.
HARRY L BUTLER: Butler was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of his former girlfriend, Leslie “Bay” Fleming. The two shared a daughter who at the time was six-years-old and testified that testified that, on the night of the murder, she had been sleeping in the bedroom with her mother, when her father, Harry Butler, picked her up and took her to her own room. She further stated that she saw her father pin her mother down and heard her mother scream as though she was being hurt. Pinellas County. Sentenced 01/11/1999.
CURTIS W BEASLEY: Beasley was charged with Robbery, Grand-Theft Auto, and First-Degree Murder when he killed a woman in 1995. The woman was found bludgeoned to death. Polk County. Sentenced 05/22/1998.
ANTHONY LAMARCA: Lamarca killed his stepdaughter's husband after he told her that her feelings for her husband would not last. Pinellas County. Sentenced 02/20/1998.
ROBERT J TREASE: Trease and his accomplice Hope Siegel conspired to rob the victim Paul Edeson. The robbery resulted in Trease killing the Edeson with a knife. Sarasota County. Sentenced 01/22/1997.
ROBERT R GORDON: Denise Davidson and her fiance, Leonardo Cisnero, hired Robert Gordon and Meryl McDonald, to kill Ms. Davidson’s estranged husband, Dr. Louis Davidson. His body was blindfolded, bound, gagged, and hog-tied, lying face down in a bathtub full of bloody water. Pinellas County. Sentenced 11/16/1995.
MERYL S MCDONALD: Denise Davidson and her fiance, Leonardo Cisnero, hired Robert Gordon and Meryl McDonald, to kill Ms. Davidson’s estranged husband, Dr. Louis Davidson. His body was blindfolded, bound, gagged, and hog-tied, lying face down in a bathtub full of bloody water. Pinellas County. Sentenced 11/16/1995.
ERNEST WHITFIELD: Whitfield broke into a home and went into the bedroom where a woman and her five children were sleeping. He stabbed the woman to death. Sarasota County. Sentenced 10/20/1995.
ALVIN MORTON: Morton broke into a home to rob a man and his mother. He shot the man in the back of the neck and stabbed his mother, who also died. When police went to the home, they found that mattresses had been set on fire and discovered the bodies. Morton was later arrested and confessed. Pasco County. Sentenced 03/18/1994.
TROY MERCK JR.: Merck was highly intoxicated and picked a fight with a man outside of a bar, he came at the man from behind stabbing him in the back and neck. The man died from the stab wounds. Pinellas County. Sentenced 12/10/1993.
BRETT A BOGLE: Bogle raped a woman before beating her to death in 1991. The victim was found naked and her head had been crushed with a piece of cement. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 02/15/1993.
CHARLES W FINNEY: Finney was sentenced to death for murdering his neighbor in January of 1991. She had been gagged, bound, and stabbed thirteen times in the back, with all but one wound penetrating the lungs. Around two weeks later, Finney raped, robbed, and kidnapped a gift shop owner. He was sentenced for both crimes the next year. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 11/10/1992.
ALFRED L FENNIE: Fennie, also known as Ezell Foster, kidnapped, robbed and murdered a woman in 1991. Hernando County. Sentenced 12/01/1992.
EMANUEL JOHNSON: Johnson stabbed a 73-year-old woman to death in 1988 during an armed burglary. Sarasota County. Sentenced 06/28/1991.
DAVID J PITTMAN: Pittman murdered his ex-wife's parents and sister. He then set the entire home on fire. Polk County. Sentenced 04/25/1991.
JEFFREY ATWATER: Atwater pretended to be Ken Smith's grandson in order to gain access to Smith's St. Pete apartment. At which point he robbed Smith and stabbed him over 40 times until he was dead. Pinellas County. Sentenced 06/25/1990.
TERANCE VALENTINE: Valentine brutally terrorized and murdered his ex-wife's new husband. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 09/30/1994.
GEORGE M HODGES: Hodges murdered a 20-year-old convenience store clerk after she had filed an indecent exposure report on him a few months prior. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 02/12/2009.
RICHARD E SHERE JR.: Shere was sentenced to death for the murder of his friend, Drew Snyder in 1987. Hernando County. Sentenced 04/17/1989.
PERRY A TAYLOR: was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Geraldine Birch in 1988. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 05/12/1989.
SAMUEL J DERRICK: Derrick stabbed an owner of a convenience store 31 times until he died. Pasco County. Sentenced 11/30/2007.
DANIEL BURNS JR.: Burns was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Young during a traffic stop in 1987. Manatee County. Sentenced 06/02/1988.
RICHARD H ANDERSON: Robert Grantham reportedly offered Anderson's girlfriend, a large sum of money in exchange for sexual favors. She rejected the proposal and told Anderson of Grantham’s offer. Anderson instructed his girlfriend to agree to spend one night with Grantham for $10,000. Beasley was told to get Grantham intoxicated, and Anderson would then rob him. During the robbery, Anderson killed him. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 02/26/1988.
DOMINICK OCCHICONE: Occhicone shot his ex-fiancee's parents to death in Pasco County in 1986. Pasco County. Sentenced 11/09/1987.
MELVIN TROTTER: Trotter strangled and stabbed grocery store owner, Virgie Langford six times in the right side and once in the left, which disemboweled her. Manatee County. Sentenced 05/18/1987.
PAUL A BROWN: Brown was sentenced to death for killing a 17-year-old girl in 1986. Brown had been living with the girl's mother at the time of the murder. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 03/02/1987.
MARK A DAVIS: Davis was convicted of robbery, grand theft, and the first-degree murder of Orville Landis in 1985. Pinellas County. Sentenced 01/30/1987.
KENNETH A STEWART: Stewart was hitchhiking on a rainy day and was picked up by a man and a woman. Stewart climbed into the back seat and requested a location to be dropped off. When they stopped at the desired location, Stewart shot the woman in the shoulder and the man in the spine. The man eventually died from his injury. He also murdered a man a year earlier to steal his money and cocaine. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 10/03/1986.
RICHARD W RHODES: Rhodes was charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to death for strangling a woman to death in 1984. Pinellas County. Sentenced 09/12/1985.
CARL PUIATTI: Puiatti and Robert Dewey Glock abducted a woman from the parking lot outside of a Bradenton mall, then they robbed and shot her to death. Pasco County. Sentenced 05/04/1984.
JASON D. WALTON: Walton was one of four men convicted in the execution-style slaying of three men in Largo in 1982 in what began as an armed robbery. Pinellas County. Sentenced 03/14/1984.
DERRICK T SMITH: Was convicted and sentenced to death for murdering a cab driver who drove him after he carried out an armed robbery in 1983. Pinellas County. Sentenced 07/13/1990.
MILO A ROSE: Rose was charged with 1st Degree Murder for killing the son of the woman he was living with by striking him on the head with a concrete block. Pinellas County. Sentenced 07/08/1983.
ALPHONSO CAVE: Cave and three accomplices kidnapped an 18-year-old girl after robbing the gas station she worked at. One of the men later stabbed her, another fatally shot her in the head. Pinellas County. Sentenced 12/10/1982.
MILFORD W BYRD: Byrd was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, Debra Byrd, in 1981. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 08/13/1982.
CHARLES CHRISTOPHER PETERSON: Also known as the"Discount Bandit" murdered a clerk at a St. Petersburg Big Lots on Christmas Eve 1997 during an armed robbery. Pinellas County. Sentenced 01/06/2006.
JAMES FRANKLIN ROSE: In 1976, James Franklin Rose was convicted of murdering an 8-year-old girl after she was abducted from a Fort Lauderdale bowling alley. Hillsborough County. Sentenced 05/13/1977.
KILGORE, DEAN: Dean Kilgore was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. Kilgore was serving two life sentences for prior offenses, first-degree murder and kidnapping, as well as a five-year term for armed trespassing. Polk County. Sentenced 04/27/1994.
Johnathan Alcegaire was sentenced in March of 2019 for multiple crimes committed in January of 2016. He was given three life sentences and three death sentences in Polk County.
