An abandoned mini-mart in Seminole Heights is transforming into the next hip spot.

"I think that's the beauty of everything, trying to find areas that others don't see could be magic," explains co-owner of the Nebraska Mini Mart Ty Rodriguez.

It took some imagination but this run-down and abandoned property on Nebraska Avenue is now hopefully a place that will attract a crowd.

"And then little by little this idea started to form of having just an outdoor area for the people of Seminole Heights," explains Rodriguez.

It's a new trend in the Heights: restaurants and bars giving new life to once abandoned buildings. But, this one is also like a playground. Bleachers, shuffleboard and bocce ball are just a few of the things you'll find here.

Rodriguez says, "We just wanted to activate the area in the best possible way so anyone can come and chill out friends family babies everyone is welcome."

Ty Rodriguez and Chef Ferrell Alvarez are known best as the muscle behind Rooster and the Till, one of the best restaurants in Tampa Bay.

"We were going for something more casual, more approachable," says Alvarez.
