It seems as if Sam's Club is trying to lure the competition's members their way after Costco made the switch from American Express to Visa less than 2 weeks ago.
There was a lot of drama surrounding the Costco card switch. Some customers reportedly never received their new Citi Visa cards and others had trouble activating their new cards. Their call centers stayed busy while customers called for support and troubleshooting during the switch, leaving many customers frustrated.
Well, now Sam's Club is trying to capitalize on the issue. They are telling their rival's members to come on over and shop with them, without a membership. That's right, your Costco membership card will get you in free at Sam's Club; but only through the 4th of July weekend.
Their promotion, featuring an animated Uncle Sam, says "Costco members shop for free at Sam's Club!" with "Sam's wants you!" (a spin on the famous "We want you!" phrase). They're also highlighting the fact that they accept all major credit cards.
