The U.S. women’s Olympics gymnastics team said their historic win in the team all-around competition at the 2016 Rio Olympic games wasn't a surprise.
Simone Biles -- who set some records of her own as an individual competitor in her first Olympic games -- and her teammates talked with ABC News’ Amy Robach in Rio about the pressure of being expected to win gold -- and actually doing it.
“We were very confident once we went out there,” Simone Biles said of her team’s earlier win. “If we had done the same thing in training then we were very confident of the outcome.”
And Biles continued the history-making streak on Sunday by becoming the first U.S. gymnast to win the women’s vault competition. It was also her first vault title in a major international competition.
Altogether, Biles won three gold medals in one Olympic games -- another first for an American woman. In addition to her medal for the vault and in the team all-round, Biles also won gold in the individual all-around event.
As the only gymnast competing in all four events for the powerhouse U.S. Women's Gymnastics team, officially nicknamed the "Final Five," the 19-year-old Biles has displayed the utmost confidence, dynamism and skill.
And Biles isn’t done just yet. She has finals on the balance beam on Monday and in the floor exercise on Tuesday.
