The prize is the eighth largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions with a cash option of $248.8 million.
Tuesday's drawing will be the fifth time Mega Millions has been drawn on the first day of a new year. The jackpot was actually won once, on January 1, 2008.
The drawing will be held Tuesday, January 1 at 11 p.m. ET.
