HOUSTON, TX — Former President George H. W. Bush was admitted to a Houston hospital on Sunday morning, just a day after he laid his wife to rest.
"President Bush was admitted to a Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood," according to a statement from the office of the former president. "He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering."
The 93-year-old former president was suffering from an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former President. He was in critical condition, according to CNN.
Bush's wife of 73 years Barbara Bush died last Tuesday. A funeral service was held for her on Saturday.
