When a donut and a croissant fall in love…

Dunkin Donuts announced Monday that it will produce its own version of the exotic donut-croissant hybrid, The Associated Press reports.

It will be called – the Croissant Donut.

“Cronut” is trademarked by Dominique Ansel Bakery of New York City. Arguably, the pastry of the gods was given to mankind through the hands of Ansel in 2013. He has since defended the Cronut by sending cease and desist letters.

TIME Magazine named the Cronut one of the best inventions in 2013. People have formed lines for a chance to taste it.

Dunkin’s version has several significant differences from the famed Cronut: For one, it’s glazed, which changes everything. Second, it isn’t cream filled.

When Dunkin Donuts launches the Croissant Donut on Nov. 3, the dream that is Cronut will be shared with 8,000 locations across the country.
