4 more die of coronavirus in Washington state, bringing U.S. death toll to 6

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Four more people have died from the new coronavirus in Washington state.

Public health officials said Monday that the latest deaths bring the total to six in the state and in the United States.

Public Health – Seattle & King County announced that three more people had died of the disease in King County. All three were hospitalized at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland.

One patient was a man in his 70s who had underlying health conditions. Another was woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions. And, the third was a woman in her 80s who had been in critical condition.

The Snohomish Health District announced that a fourth patient died of COVID-19. That patient was a man in his 40s from Snohomish County who had also been hospitalized at EvergreenHealth.

The latest deaths come after two men died of the virus on Friday and Saturday — the first deaths linked to the virus in the U.S. Those patients were also being treated at EvergreenHealth.

Researchers said earlier that the virus may have been circulating for weeks undetected in Washington state.
