MULBERRY, Fla. — A Polk County woman is in trouble with the law after she was caught red-handed, stealing high-tech Christmas decorations from a home in Mulberry.

To make matters worse, Lisa Michelle Register lied about her criminal intentions and then gave deputies a bogus name.

A Polk County Sheriff’s Office report says a resident of Ogden Dr. called 9-1-1 after witnessing a woman take her Disney-themed laser light projector from her backyard on the afternoon of Monday, December 11th.

When a deputy approached Register – who was carrying the stolen items under her arm – she dropped the projector and claimed that she ‘didn’t mean to take it.’ Register was in the company of two juveniles at the time the report states.

Register originally told the deputy her name was Lisa Spann – which was her name two decades ago per investigators.

She was booked into the Polk County Jail where she if facing one count of unarmed burglary, one count of petit theft, one count of negligent child abuse, one count of resisting arrest, one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of giving a false ID to law enforcement.

Register was also being sought on an active warrant for failing to appear in court for a previous petit theft charge and using the identification of a deceased person. She is being held on a bond of $4,500.
