A wrong way driver in Dade City crashed head on into a Temple Terrace police officer late Tuesday night.
Officer Nick Dittman was on his way back from a firearms training class when he noticed the wrong way driver on County Road 52. A police report said he turned his lights on to notify others of the wrong way driver just before the car crashed into his cruiser head on.
Pasco County Fire Rescue said Officer Dittman's injuries were not life-threatening. Before first responders arrived, Officer Dittman performed first aid at the scene.
Emergency crews then airlifted the driver, identified as Louise Tobbie Valentine, on trauma alert to a nearby hospital. Her condition wasn't immediately available.
The wreck occurred near the intersection of Clinton Ave. and Carmen Ave. in Dade City around 9 p.m.
The report said a third vehicle ran into Valentine's car as it spun around from the impact of the collision with the police cruiser. No information was available about the condition of the third driver.
