A 58-year-old Winter Haven man has been charged with attempting to lure a 16-year-old boy for sex, authorities said.
Winter Haven police say Mark Anthony Biermann went to the Steak N' Shake restaurant at 6930 Cypress Gardens Blvd., S.E. in Winter Haven shortly after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
He ordered food, paid his bill then wrote a note on the receipt to a 16-year-old restaurant employee. Police say Biermann told the employee to read it later.
The note suggested a sexual act and included Biermann's first name and phone number, police say.
The teenage employee later read the note, contacted his manager and called his parents, who reported the incident to police.
A Winter Haven police sergeant called the number on the receipt, posing as the victim. Police say the suspect discussed performing a sexual act on the victim and agreed to meet the him.
Police say Biermann showed up at the designated meeting spot and was arrested.
