Cooler temperatures and heavy winds are keeping tourists off the beach and inside.

For a lot of people visiting the Bay Area, Spring Break is normally a time to get a tan and enjoy warm weather, but not for the next few days.

“It's not ideal, I thought it would be warm and stuff like that,” Karina Quinones said. Quinones is visiting from St. Augustine. She said the worst part of the weather are the heavy winds sending sand stinging in their faces.

Certain parts of Clearwater Beach are windier than others especially in front of the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach hotel where we watched tourists literally get knocked around walking into their hotel.

It’s not what many tourists expected, but, they say this weather definitely makes it fun.

“Just being out here, it is kind of an adventure,” Cindy Hendry said. “We haven't been here when it's been gale force winds before or gotten tornado warnings on our phones.”

Hendry is visiting from California and didn’t pack a jacket.

“I was supposed to be warm here in Florida like it is at home,” Hendry said.
