The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has such a large collection of art, it created a unique way to share it with the world.
The museum's collection is so large that if you walked past each piece of work on view, you would walk SEVEN MILES! That's as of June 2017, so the collection is likely even larger now.
"In a world oversaturated with information, we asked ourselves: how can we generate personal connections between a diverse cross section of people and the artworks in our collection? How can we provide a more comprehensive experience of our collection?," the museum wrote online.
The solution? Send Me SFMOMA.
Here's how it works:
- Text 572-51
- Use the words "send me" followed by a keyword, color or even an emojii
- Receive a related picture of a piece of art with a caption
These are some of the responses we got when we tried it out.
