New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a new honor. The five-time Super Bowl winner has a baby cockroach named after him.
The Atlanta Zoo made a bet with Roger Williams Park Zoo before Super Bowl LI. The loser would have to name a baby animal after the winning team’s star quarterback.
The zoos decided the losing side would be bitter about loss, so in advance they both agreed the baby animal that would be named would be an insect, a Madagascar hissing cockroach.
The Atlanta Zoo named other cockroaches after characters from "The Brady Bunch" television show, so naming one of the babies "Tom" felt appropriate.
The choice of a cockroach also turned out to be appropriate given the Patriots' incredible 25-point comeback and the fact the insects can survive atomic blasts.
The #Patriots won the #Superbowl, so there's a new Tom Brady at @ZooATL!
Well played, guys. ? https://t.co/Wjtu1TLYkx
