Volunteers needed for College Football Playoffs National Championship Week in January

Rob Higgins, executive director of Tampa Bay Sports Commission, has a call to the residents of the Tampa Bay area.

The commission is seeking about 2,000 enthusiastic individuals to serve as ambassadors for the fan events surrounding the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship.

The 2017 national championship game is scheduled to be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

Signature College Football Playoff events include Playoff Fan Central at the Tampa Convention Center on Jan. 6-8, AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! at Curtis Hixon Park also Jan. 6-8, and the Extra Yard for Teachers 5K at Amalie Arena on Jan. 8.

Volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory training session. Sessions have been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15, from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
 
Training will include a general overview of the program and will be followed by breakout sessions with volunteer captains.
