Two students suffered minor burns when hot, coolant fluid leaked on students in a Hernando County public school bus Thursday afternoon, officials said.
At about 2:25 p.m. Thursday, a Hernando County Fire Rescue crew responded to a call in reference to students being burned on a school bus, Hernando County Fire Rescue Division Chief Alex Lopez said in a news release.
When the rescue unit arrived, the firefighters found about 35 students from Weeki Wachee High School had evacuated the bus. Two students had minor superficial burns, the release states.
The parents of the injured students were called to the scene, and they left in their parents' care.
