TAMPA — A mom and a bobblehead had to step in for graduate Josh Quiggle Tuesday to accept the free car he won from Hillsborough County. Applause erupted at the Hillsborough County School Board headquarters as Wanda Quiggle unlocked a brand new Toyota Yaris.

Josh sent a taped message.

"If you are viewing this video I have won the 2018 Toyota of Tampa Bay Perfect car for Perfect Attendance drawing," said Josh Quiggle.

He will receive a brand new car for not missing even one day of school since kindergarten! It's a life lesson taught by mom and dad, both teachers in Hillsborough schools.

"Oh my gosh I am so excited for him!" gushed his mom. "I am so nervous I am shaking. He's worked really hard 13 years."

Josh joins only five other teens in the county with perfect attendance since kindergarten. An additional ten others who had a least one perfect year in attendance were eligible for the giveaway sponsored by Toyota of Tampa Bay.

But why didn't the kid with perfect attendance attend arguably one of the biggest moments in his life?

"I could not attend this today because I am at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas doing my basic training for the United States Air Force," said Josh.

Yes, Josh is serving the country. He taped the message right before he left last week.

"He is not allowed to leave or have a phone or anything!" said mom Wanda. "He won't even know he won for weeks. The only option right now is that I have to send him a letter."

But in the hopes he won, Josh also shared this message.

"Thank you so much Toyota of Tampa Bay for this amazing gift. Go United States of America and God bless," said Josh.
