Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn took to Facebook on Thursday morning to share that he will not run for Governor of Florida in 2018.
In the post, the Mayor wrote "While I absolutely believe that the State of Florida needs a course correction and a new direction, the timing for me and my family would be a challenge. As the father of two daughters who are 15 and 11, the all consuming task of running for Governor would cause me to miss the milestones in their lives that I could never get back."
Buckhorn thanked the supporters who have encouraged him to run. But ultimately, he says he has a job that he loves and he doesn't awnt to miss the time with his two daughters who are ages 11 and 15.
He went on to say "finishing Tampa's next chapter is more important than starting mine."
