It took more than two hours to free a motorist, who was trapped in a pickup after a traffic crash on East Fowler Avenue early Thursday.
The crash occurred about 2:45 a.m. on East Fowler Avenue just west of North 51st Street, Tampa police said.
A pickup truck heading westbound on Fowler Avenue went out of control. It slide off of the road, overturned and slammed into a pole in front of a strip plaza in the 5000 block of East Fowler Ave.
Firefighters steadily peeled back metal until they were able to free the unidentified man who was driving the pickup truck.
He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
Tampa police are investigating the traffic crash.
