PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A group of Pasco County high schoolers is banding together to help foster kids all over the Tampa Bay area.

"We're trying to promote smiles today so we can have a different tomorrow," says Wiregrass High School Senior A.J. Persaud.

About 20 students at Wiregrass High School are hoping to change the lives of 100 foster kids.

"Our goal is to bring foster kids to Disney for a day of joy that they can bring into adulthood," says Persaud.

Persaud is the head of Project Mickey.

The group is hoping to raise $25,000 to bring the kids, between ages 8-13, to Disney World in May.

Persaud says, "statistically foster kids are more prone to depression and instability later in life."

So far, the group has raised just over $5,500 for the trip.

"We're trying to change the world in little ways but make an impact on the bigger, broader world outside of us," Persaud added.
