TAMPA, Fla. — Expect downtown Tampa to be extra spooky Thursday through Sunday. Spooky Empire is taking over the Tampa Convention Center. “Florida’s Premier Horror Convention” is expected to draw around 15,000 people.

For more than a decade, the event, considered the “Dark Side of Comic Con”, was held in Orlando. Organizers decided to come to Tampa this year after they were unable to find spaces big enough in Orlando with available dates. Plus, some attendees had issues with parking last year.

Traffic anchor Sarah Phinney recommends parking in Ybor City or Channelside and using the free TECO Streetcar. You can track streetcars live here.

With big events, the Tampa Convention Center Garage usually fills up quickly. Drivers should consider using the Pam Iorio or Fort Brooke Garage.
