SOHO kidnapping, robbery suspect arrested in May for video voyeurism

A 32-year-old man arrested Friday in connection with a violent kidnapping and robbery in Tampa's SoHo district was charged in May with video voyeurism, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office records show.

Johnathan Troy Rogers of Tampa was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a young woman during the early morning hours of Dec. 3. The victim told Tampa police she was walking back to her car on South Howard Avenue when someone approached and struck her on the head.

The woman, who was knocked unconscious, was shoved in the her car and driven a short distance by her attacker. 

The attacker took some of the woman's personal items and returned to his car.

The victim reported the incident several hours later.

Tampa police released surveillance video of a man fitting the description provided by the victim. 

Following an investigation, Rogers was identified as a suspect in the incident and arrested Friday. 

Rogers was charged with kidnapping and robbery. He was being held without bond in the Hillsborough County Jail Saturday.

In May, Rogers was charged with two counts of video voyeurism for looking under or through someone's clothing.
