Bradenton residents are waiting for flooding to recede on some streets following a night of heavy thunderstorms and damaging winds.

A "suspected tornado" may have hit in parts of Manatee County, a sheriff's office official said.

A severe line of thunderstorms roared through Manatee County, causing a significant amount of street flooding.

About 9:20 p.m. Saturday a suspected tornado passed through the Samoset area, traveling from 2600 1st Street to 3000 15th Street East, a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release said.

Numerous trees and structure damage was spotted.

Metal and other materials were strewn around the grounds of the Manatee County Eastside Maintenance facilities. There was damage to rooftops of the maintenance buildings and offices, the news release said.

Some vehicles also were damaged.

Manatee sheriff's deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the area to help those affected. No injuries were reported.

Florida Power and Light and Manatee County Public Works are currently working on cleaning up damage and restoring power to customers.
