A woman was struck crossing Beneva Road south of Tree Line Drive and critically injured Tuesday, officials said.
Mary Denise Tognarelli, 65, of Sarasota, was walking east to west across Beneva Road, also known as County Road 773, shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday when the accident occurred.
As she crossed the left lane, she entered the path of a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Caitlin Sandra O'Keefe, 16, also of Sarasota. O'Keefe and her passenger were uninjured.
Tognarelli was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was last listed in critical condition Tuesday night.
No charges have been filed, pending an investigation.
