Rattlesnake enthusiasts have gathered in San Antonio for the past 50 years.

The tradition continues Saturday, Oct. 15, and Sunday, Oct. 16, at San Antonio City Park at 12202 Main St. in San Antonio.

The events kicked off at 8 a.m. Saturday with a 5-mile run. On Sunday, a new family bike ride will hit the street at 9:30 a.m.  Pre-registration is required to participate in both events.

Festival-goers will be able to take part in the new Cates Snakes Educational Lectures, compete in the wooden gopher tortoise races, and watch traditional craft demonstrations in the Florida Pioneer Village.

A newly added event this year is the crocodile encounters and mechanical bull rides.
